Dawnwood / Workshop / AI Video Editor
WORKSHOP · SINGLE TOOL

Rough cuts for vertical shorts, in the browser.

Import your footage and the editor marks every hard cut at ingest — free. Click away the segments you don’t want, trim what’s left, and export one clean cut. An AI assist bridges transitions and pulls the background music out while keeping the voice.

THE POINT

Most of a rough cut is deleting. So deleting is free.

What is the Dawnwood video editor? A project-based timeline editor that runs in the browser, built for rough-cutting vertical shorts. When you upload a video it detects the hard cut points automatically, so the timeline arrives pre-sliced into segments — you click the ones you don’t want and delete them. Trimming, splitting and merging clips is free; you pay credits only when the AI generates something or you export.

HOW IT WORKS

Ingest, cut, ship.

01 · INGEST
Import and get a pre-sliced timeline
Bring in video, audio and images. Scene-detect runs at ingest — free — and splits the timeline at every hard cut it finds.
02 · CUT
Delete, trim, split, merge — free
Click segments to drop them, then tighten what’s left. Every timeline operation is free, and projects save and reopen.
03 · SHIP
Bridge, clean the audio, export
Bridge two clips with a generated silent transition (5 cr / output second), or strip the background music while keeping the voice (2 cr / audio minute). Export one clean cut for 1 cr.
WHO IT'S FOR

Built for the boring middle of editing.

SHORTS & REELS
Long take in, tight vertical cut out
The canvas defaults to 9:16. Slice a long recording into segments, keep the good ones, export a clean cut.
FOOTAGE TRIAGE
Delete the dead air fast
Scene-detect finds the cut points so you don’t scrub for them. Rough-cutting becomes clicking segments off a list.
SERIES FACTORY
Touch up rendered episodes
Import a rendered episode, trim it, bridge an awkward join with a generated transition, and re-export — without leaving the browser.
PRICING

Editing is free. Generating and exporting cost credits.

2 FREE EXPORTS
The timeline is free: import, auto scene-detect, trim, split, merge, and projects that save and reopen. Credits buy the rest — the AI transition bridge at 5 cr / output second (1 free on signup), music removal that keeps the voice at 2 cr / audio minute, and export at 1 cr per cut (2 free on signup). Failed jobs are never charged.

QUESTIONS

Asked before you asked.

What's free and what costs credits?
Everything on the timeline is free: importing video, audio and images, the automatic scene-detect at ingest, and per-clip trim, split and merge. Credits are spent only when something is generated or exported: AI transition bridges (5 cr per output second, 1 free on signup), background-music removal (2 cr per audio minute), and exports (1 cr each, 2 free on signup).
What does the AI transition bridge do?
It generates a short, silent transition between two clips so the join doesn't jump. It costs 5 credits per output second, and every new account gets one bridge free.
Can it remove the music but keep the person talking?
Yes. The audio tool removes the background music while keeping the voice, at 2 credits per audio minute.
What happens if a job fails?
Nothing is charged. Failed generations and failed exports never cost credits.
Where do my files and projects live?
In your Dawnwood account, private to you. Projects are saved as you work and can be reopened later — a rough cut doesn't have to happen in one sitting.
What canvas does it use?
9:16 by default — it's built for vertical shorts — and both the frame rate and the aspect ratio are settable. You can import video, audio and images.
