Dawnwood / Use cases / Script to Storyboard
SERIES FACTORY · PIPELINE CAPABILITY

Script in. Renderable shot list out.

Inside a Dawnwood season run, every episode script is broken into beats, shot groups and shots — each shot carrying framing, camera angle, movement, light and mood. The AI drafts whole chapters; you apply or reject line by line; the approved board feeds the renderer directly.

THE POINT

The board is the bridge from writing to footage.

What does script-to-storyboard mean at Dawnwood? In a season run, each episode script is broken down into beats, shot groups and individual shots. Every shot specifies five control fields — framing, camera angle, camera movement, light and mood — so the board isn't a sketch, it's a renderable instruction set. The AI drafts it, a human approves it line by line, and the approved board is exactly what the renderer consumes.

HOW IT WORKS IN A RUN

Draft by the chapter. Approve by the line.

01 · BREAK
The script becomes a board
Each episode splits into beats, shot groups and shots. The AI can draft an entire chapter's board in one pass — every shot already carrying its five control fields.
02 · DIRECT
You approve line by line
Apply or reject each shot. Give a shot group feedback in plain language — like a director's note — and the AI rewrites it; the diff comes back line by line, and any line can be excluded.
03 · RENDER
The board feeds the renderer
Approved shot groups of up to 15 seconds render as units, with reference sheets locking each character's identity in the output footage.
WHY IT MATTERS

Made for people who direct in words.

DRAMA & SERIES
A season's coverage without the all-nighter
Ten episodes of shot lists is weeks of manual breakdown work. The AI drafts the board; you spend your time on judgment calls, not formatting.
WRITER-DIRECTORS
Notes in, rewrites out
"Hold the wide longer, less dread, warmer light" — natural-language feedback on a shot group comes back as a rewritten group, diffed line by line.
REVISION CONTROL
Reject a line, keep the rest
Rewrites never steamroll your board: each changed line in the diff can be excluded individually, so an approved shot stays approved.

QUESTIONS

Asked before you asked.

Is this a standalone storyboard tool?
No — the storyboard stage lives inside Dawnwood's season pipeline. Every episode script in a season run is broken down into a shot list there, and the approved board is what the renderer consumes. On the Free plan you can write the bible and the full scripts that feed it before paying anything.
What does each shot in the list specify?
Five control fields: framing (shot size), camera angle, camera movement, light, and mood. The script itself is broken into beats, shot groups and individual shots, so every line of the board is a concrete, renderable instruction.
Does the AI write the storyboard or do I?
Both. The AI can draft an entire chapter's board in one pass; you then go through it line by line and apply or reject each shot. Nothing renders that you didn't approve.
How do revisions work?
Give a shot group feedback in natural language — like a director's note — and the AI rewrites the group. The rewrite comes back as a diff you can accept line by line, excluding any individual lines you want to keep as they were.
How does the storyboard become video?
The approved board feeds rendering directly: shot groups of up to 15 seconds render as units, with reference sheets locking each character's identity in the output footage.
