Nine tools that say "script to episode", checked against their own public pages in September 2026. We make one of them, so read this as a vendor's page: every claim about another tool links to a source, and the section on where Dawnwood is weaker is not optional.
What is the best AI short drama generator in 2026? There isn't one winner; there are different jobs. A short drama is a series: the same cast, the same world and a plot across ten or fifty vertical episodes. So we compare on four things: does the tool have a series or episode object, what happens when a shot comes out wrong, can it publish the finished episode, and what does it cost to start. Cheapest per second: Vidu. Anime: Elser. Chinese market: Jimeng. English live-action series with publishing from the same console: Dawnwood, at a higher entry price.
| TOOL | SERIES / EPISODES | WHEN A SHOT IS WRONG | PUBLISHING | TO START |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dawnwood | Yes. Series bible, scripts, cast and episodes are the data model; the bible is versioned. | QC checks every take; on a hard defect it renders one more take for that one shot group (billed per second) or pauses for you. Local Regenerate edits at 5 cr per edited second. | From the console to your own TikTok, YouTube, Facebook Page and Instagram. | 500 cr one-time on signup; plans from $29/mo; packs $0.10/cr, never expire. |
| LTX Studio | Script auto-split into scenes and shots; no "episode" object.[1] | Retake re-generates a chosen 2–16 s range and leaves the rest untouched.[2] | None found. | 800 credits one-time, personal use; $15 Lite / $35 Standard / $125 Pro; commercial use and top-ups from Standard.[1] |
| Vidu Q3 / Drama Agent | 16 s multi-shot clips with dialogue, SFX and music; Drama Agent builds script-driven sequences of up to ~180 s per request.[4] | No region edit or QC loop found.[4] | None found. | Standard $8/mo (annual), 800 cr; Drama Agent $0.14/s.[3] |
| Vigloo Studio | Beta (2026-07-13): single scenes plus character management. Multi-episode announced for H2 2026.[5] | Shot-level regenerate only. | Direct publishing to the Vigloo app announced for H2 2026.[5] | Credits from $15; hobbyists first.[5] |
| Elser AI | Yes, anime. Prompt → script → storyboard → cast and voices → episodes; cast library across episodes.[6] | Shot-level regenerate only. | Sister app Redrama plays series; no publishing to your own social accounts found.[6] | $9 / $16.9 / $32.9 / $79.9 tiers.[6] |
| Jimeng (即梦) / Dreamina | In Jimeng (China): storyboard generation, shot timeline, multi-subject @-reference.[7] | Shot-level regenerate only. | Deep CapCut (剪映) ↔ Douyin integration; one-click multi-platform distribution with data feedback appears only in community posts, not official docs.[7] | Dreamina ~$18/mo, 1,575 cr; Jimeng annual plan ¥3,099.[7] |
| Topview Drama Studio | Yes. A workbench holding outline, episodes, characters, scenes, props, scripts and beat sheet, all editable; 9:16 export.[8] | Shot-level regenerate only. | None found. | Pro $29/mo.[8] |
| ImagineArt AI Drama Studio | Yes. Script → cast → world → episodes; a cast member's face, voice and personality are reused across episodes.[9] | Shot-level regenerate only. | None found. | Credit tiers.[9] |
| StoReel Canvas | Yes. Episodes, built on Veo 3.[10] | Reported: each character or scene change triggers a new generation and more credits.[10] | Into StoReel's own app, where the platform greenlights by D7 retention and install cost.[10] | Not public. |
"None found" and "shot-level regenerate only" mean we could not find it in the tool's public pages on 2026-09-13; tell us if that has changed and we will correct it. Holywater's My Muse runs a production-to-audience-test loop, but it is an internal, invite-only tool and not for sale.[13]
The closest general tool to script-first work: paste a script and it splits into scenes and shots; Elements let you @-tag characters, locations and props. Elements live per project, so a new project means rebuilding them.[1] [2] Retake is a real local fix for a 2–16 s window. LTX-2.5 weights are open (2026-08-11).
Pick it when you want shot-level control in a general tool, or open weights. Note that the Free and Lite tiers cannot buy extra credits.
Made with short drama in mind: 16-second multi-shot clips with dialogue, sound effects and music, up to 7 reference subjects; the Drama Agent (around 2026-07-20) reads up to 14 asset IDs in script order and returns up to ~180 s per request. We found no region editing or QC loop, and could not verify cross-episode persistence.[3] [4]
Pick it when price per second decides: $0.14/s for the Drama Agent is well below Dawnwood's per-second render rate.
The creator tool of the Vigloo short-drama app, in beta since 2026-07-13 with credits from $15. The beta covers single scenes and character management; multi-episode, IP asset management and direct publishing into Vigloo are announced for H2 2026. Vigloo itself shipped a 22-episode, fully AI series, Bloodbound Luna, in eight weeks with fewer than ten people.[5]
Pick it when your goal is distribution on Vigloo specifically, and you can wait for the episode features.
Prompt to script to storyboard to cast and voices to episodes, in anime style; long pieces (30 minutes, 180+ scenes) and a cast library that spans episodes. #1 Product of the Day on Product Hunt on 2026-01-11. Its own guide suggests keeping an external character bible and versioning it by file name.[6]
Pick it when the series is anime. Dawnwood's own series are live-action style; Elser is built for this.
Seedance models inside Jimeng (China) and Dreamina / CapCut (international). Jimeng has storyboard generation, a shot timeline and multi-subject @-reference, and CapCut (剪映) is deeply integrated with Douyin.[7]
Pick it when you publish in China, in Chinese, on Douyin. For English series aimed at TikTok or YouTube, the ecosystem advantage mostly falls away.
An editable workbench: outline, episodes, characters, scenes, props, scripts and beat sheet, driving storyboards and production, exported 9:16. It is the closest thing on this list to a hand-editable series bible; we could not verify whether it keeps versions.[8]
Pick it when you want an editable drama workspace at $29/mo and plan to publish by hand.
Script to cast to world to episodes, with each cast member's face, voice and personality text reused across episodes.[9]
Pick it when you already use ImagineArt's image and video tools and want drama on the same credits.
StoReel ($34M raised) makes episodes on a Veo-3-based canvas and releases them in its own app, where the platform decides what continues from D7 retention and install cost. The reported catch: every character or scene change triggers a fresh generation that needs more credits.[10]
Pick it when you want to be a supplier to StoReel's app rather than own your channels.
Built for live-action-style vertical drama series in English. A season bible that keeps every version with a field-by-field diff and up to twelve series writing rules the writers and the fixing agent read before every proposal. QC on every take: good shots stay, and a hard defect triggers one more take for that shot group, or a pause if you turned auto re-render off. Signed-off episodes publish from the console to your own accounts.
Pick it when the deliverable is a whole English series you will release on your own channels. Proof: The Bride Price case study.

500 credits once on signup, enough to write the bible, build the cast and render a first segment. Then decide.
